Legends Lodge Sightings:

  • Pride of lions kill warthog behind Legends boardroom.
  • Leopard stalking bushbuck in front of the boma at Legends.
  • Pride of lions in front of suite 2 at Legends
  • Leopard seen in front of suite 1, and lions seen from the main deck at Legends (8 October, 2008)
  • A pride of lions on the rocks in front of suite 1 at Legends.
  • A large male lion seen from suite 5
  • Pride of lions unsuccessfully attacking buffalo in front of suite 1 (October, 2007).
  • A pride of seven lions by the waterhole in front of the treatment room.
  • A pride of seven lionesses seen from the main deck at Legends, whilst guests having breakfast (9 September, 2007).
  • A large male leopard was seen at the base of the fig tree in front of suite 5 (August 8, 2007).
  • Male leopard killed a bushbuck lamb by suite 1 - (1 July, 2007 - see the ranger diary for the full story)
  • A pride of eight lions attacking a young elephant (12 May 2007). Rangers report the elephant calf survived.
  • Crocodile kills impala at midday in front of Legends deck (22 Jan, 07 - see Rangers Diary)
  • A white rhino was drinking at the Sabie river opposite suite 9 when 100 buffalo also came down to drink. These were attacked by three lions, but the herd succeeded in driving the lions away (15 October).
  • A lioness stalked and killed a bushbuck in front of suite 9 (14 October).
  • A male leopard stalked and killed an impala opposite the main deck at Legends (October 5, 2006).
  • Two lionesses were seen stalking a herd of waterbuck close to the main deck. They were unsuccesful, and subsequently crossed the Sabie river, and lay up in the shade on the opposite bank (August 2006).
  • A large male leopard (staff first thought it was a lioness!) was seen walking past the front of the lodge (August 17, 2006)
  • A white rhino drinking at the river, opposite the lodge. He is seen regularly in the late afternoon.
  • A large male leopard walking past the entrance gate.
  • A pride of nine lions attacking an old buffalo bull outside suite 1.
